Department Research

Research that feeds the curriculum,
and the curriculum that feeds research.

The MSc is built on top of two active research departments — the UoM Department of Accounting and Finance and the CUT Department of Finance, Accounting and Management Science. Research output is systematically integrated back into the curriculum, and into evidence-based policy advice for public and private institutions.

Research Philosophy

How research and teaching connect.

The Departments systematically ensure that the outcomes of their research activities are integrated into the ongoing development of the programme’s curriculum. Course content is regularly enriched and updated to reflect new findings, emerging methodologies, and shifts in the financial and FinTech sectors.

First, academic staff publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and participate in competitive international research projects. Several members hold editorial roles at leading journals in finance, accounting, statistics, and data science.

Second, the Departments operate a structured mechanism for monitoring evolving labour-market trends and industry developments, particularly in finance and FinTech, and feed those signals back into the modules.

Third, Faculty members contribute expertise to public bodies and advisory scientific committees, providing evidence-based insights to support policy formulation and strategic decision-making.
